Department of Library

           Established in 1963 alongside the college, the Yeshwant Mahavidyalaya Central Library is a premier knowledge hub designed to support the academic and research needs of the Arts, Science, and Commerce faculties. Spanning an expansive 18,000+ square feet across two floors, the library offers a serene, welcoming ambiance ideal for both collaborative work and focused study.

Extensive Collections

Organized systematically using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system, our vast repository manages information in both print and digital formats. The collection currently includes:

  • Books: 54,654 unique titles comprising 110,091 total volumes.
  • Print Subscriptions: 32 National and International print journals, 4 periodicals, and 16 daily newspapers (4 copies each).
  • Archives & Multimedia: 4,657 bounded volumes, academic theses and dissertations, alongside 815 non-book materials (CDs/DVDs).

Digital Resources & Connectivity

As a dynamic information resource center, the Central Library provides robust digital access, operating on a high-speed fiber-optic network powered by a 100 Mbps dedicated leased line from Airtel.

  • N-LIST Program (e-Shodh Sindhu): Through an annual subscription, authorized users gain on-campus and off-campus access to 4 databases, 22 resources, over 6,150 e-journals, and 300,000+ e-books.
  • Digital Access Center: Equipped with 10 modern PCs dedicated to accessing online journals, e-resources, and video lectures. An additional 2 terminals are exclusively reserved for the OPAC/WebOPAC search facility.
  • Wi-Fi Access: The reading section is fully Wi-Fi enabled, providing patrons with free, wireless internet access for academic research and browsing.

Library Automation

To keep pace with a technology-enabled information environment, the library is fully automated using SOUL 3.0. This integrated, multi-user library management system handles all housekeeping operations, including acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serial control, and OPAC utilities. The database is updated daily with new acquisitions and circulation data, ensuring patrons always have accurate, real-time access to our evolving collections.
