The Department of Commerce was established on June, 1963. From few hundred students in 1963,
the Commerce stream has grown by leaps and bounds. In the June 1979 the Department has been allotted the
Research Centre for the Ph. D. Degree Course by the affiliating University Dr. B. A. Marathwada University.
In June 1982 Post Graduate course M. Com. has been introduced on Self Finance Basis. In the June 2019 Post
Graduate Diploma in Tax Procedure and Practice has been introduced on self finance basis. There are over 1450
students admitted in various programmes of Commerce for the A.Y. 2022-2023.
The Department is the most active one with tremendous potential for growth. At present, the Department offers the students with 4 divisions for the B. Com.,
2 divisions M. Com. And one division of P. G. Diploma in Tax Procedure and Practice (PGDTPP).
Commerce department organize various activities for improving student’s practical knowledge with confidence such as Industrial visits, class room seminar,
Annual YM ZEP, Students presentation competition, Elocution competition, Debate Competition, Group discussion, Guest lectures, Induction and farewell functions.
Also motivate to the students for participation in various leading college activities, workshops and Competitive exams.
Teaching, Learning and Evaluation: In addition to conventional method of teaching, ICT based teaching is also used as regular practice.
Besides learning in theory classes, students also learn themselves by using computers, internet services, tutorials/homework, Training and Field work,
project work assigned to them, also help in independent learning. Students learn a lot during tours. The subject knowledge of students is
evaluated through internal class tests, online MCQ Tests, group discussions, seminars, personal Interviews and assessment of practical work,
practical records, project work/tutorials and Pre semester examination. Final evaluation is through the University examinations conducted at
the end of semester for the courses run under semester pattern.
Best Practices: Training and Field Work for the UG Final Year Students and Project work is to be submitted on the Basis training and field work done
by them. Research project Work for the PG Final Year Students and Project work book is to be submitted on the Basis of Primary and Secondary Data
Collected by them. Visits to various Firms, Offices and Industries within the Nanded District. Short-term course like Career Oriented Course in financial accounting, Tally ERP 9 and UGC Vocational Course Tax Procedure and Practice.
