Department of Economics is founded in 1968, the Department of Economics is one of the oldest, well known and aided PG departments amongst many colleges of the Maharashtra state and it has made a qualitative contribution to research and Post Graduate education in Economics since its initiation. The Department offers a Bachelor Degree - B. A. (Three years), Master’s M.A. (Two years) course in economics and served as recognized research centre for Ph.D. and M. Phil. in Economics. The department thrives to reach standards of excellence in teaching and research in economics. Every year we get an overwhelming response for Masters from all across Marathwada region as well as Maharashtra state. Departmental strength also consists of one associate professor and two assistant professors specialized in varied areas of economics. Department has very rich intellectual legacy and it has continued to enrich and deepen it further. Many Dignitaries had been head of department and they contributed well to shape up many successful students in the society. Former head of the department Dr. Ghuge V. B. served as Vice Chancellor of the reputed university and Dr. Shendarkar and Dr. Vibhute also served as Principal in reputed colleges as well as Dr. Shendarkar also working as treasurer of Shri Sharda Bhavan Education Society, Nanded a reputed Educational Institution in Marathwada region. Mr. N. B. Ghodke, Dr. R. K. Nirgude, Mr. R. S. Deshmukh, Mr. R. N. Birhade, Dr. D. L. Jamge (I/C), Mr. V. C . Belure also had been served as head and contributed significantly to the department. Currently Dr. Muthe P. R. is working as head of the department.
  Department of Economics has hosted illustrious alumni who have contributed immensely to various fields of national policy making in the country. More than 40 students since 2010 got qualified in SET /NET/JRF examination and they are working in different reputed institutions across the nation. Faculties of the department have been published more than 12 text and reference books and many research articles in reputed journals. Economics Department of Yeshwant Mahavidyalaya has a long standing academic tradition of excellence in research.
  Department organised Marathwada Arthashastra Parisad (5-6 Feb 2005) as well as one day national conference-GIIE 2020 (8 Feb 2020) with overwhelming response of participants from various states across India. Economics department organised one day national workshop on Research methodology in collaboration with IQAC, Commerce dept., English Departments and also conducted one university level Workshop on Research Methodology for researcher and post graduate students. Economics department also organised One Week Workshop on Financial Literacy (Share Market) in collaboration with NSE and SEBI under ‘Kona Kona Shiksha’ program. Economics department has regularly Publishes Board Flair named ‘ARTHNITI’ on current economic issues in the economy.Economics department establishes students ‘Economics Study Forum’ every year to provide academic platform, to enhance stage courage amongst the students and conduct many activity under this forum.
